Taking 1000mg of a specific olive leaf extract (EFLA®943) can lower cholesterol and lower blood pressure in patients with mild hypertension (high blood pressure). These findings came from a ‘Twins’ trial, in which different treatments were given to identical twins.
By doing this, researchers could increase the power of their data by eliminating some of the uncertainties caused by genetic variations between individual people.
Hypertension is one of the most common and important disease risk factors imposed by the modern lifestyle. Many people would therefore benefit from finding ways of reducing blood pressure. Experiments in rats had previously indicated that olive leaf extract could be one way of achieving this goal.

Carol Vorderman is leading the detox craze with the follow-up book to her popular video, 28 Day Detox Diet. She has teamed up once again with Ko Chohan, creator of the detox diet, to provide guidance to those wanting to lose weight, gain energy and feel better about themselves.
If you are new to the detox diet, don’t fret: the book covers the same ground as the video, explaining what detoxing is, why we should do it and how to go about it. Women trying to shrink their big bootys should think again because body fat found on the buttocks may lower the risk of type 2 diabetes, new research suggests.
The Harvard Medical School study compared subcutaneous fat (on the buttocks) to visceral fat (around the waist and organs) and found the later was more harmful to health.
